Christmas comes early for Devon pub
When award-winning public house, The Wheelwright Inn, decided it was time to raise the standard of their marketing to the same high level as their food and hospitality, they naturally chose food and drink specialists New Century. As members of Taste of the West and the Guild of Fine Food, and having a host of food and drink clients across the South West (and beyond), the Ilminster-based design agency were the automatic choice for Wheelwright proprietor Gary Valentine.
A charming 17th Century thatched inn, situated in the pretty Devon village of Colyford, The Wheelwright has been enjoying a growing reputation for the quality of its food, culminating in it winning Best Food Pub in the West Country region at the prestigious 2009 Great British Pub Awards, held at London’s Hilton Hotel last month.
The first major project was the creation of a sophisticated, contemporary campaign – free of the usual festive embellishments – to launch and promote The Wheelwright’s upcoming Christmas dining programme, including menus and advertising for local newspapers and county-wide magazines.
Next up, New Century will be sending in their photographer for a mammoth photo shoot involving The Wheelwright team and the pub's all-important local suppliers, emphasising the quality ingredients found right on its doorstep. This will form the basis of a flurry of new marketing activity, following on from the success of the Christmas campaign, to help The Wheelwright rack-up further awards in 2010!
